Yep, I’m Still Dying Over This Clip Of Hasan Minhaj Millennial-Splaining The Student Loan Crisis To Congress

From now on, please explain everything to me like you’re Hasan Minhaj.

The average student loan borrower has around $37,000 in debt. That’s a fact. A really crushing, stressful, and anxiety-inducing fact. 😭

Recently, Hasan Minhaj was invited to testify at the House Committee on Financial Services’s first ever (!) hearing on the student loan crisis. And he held nothing back.

Hasan Minhaj is a comedian, actor, and host of the original Netflix series, Patriot Act. Back in February, he dedicated an entire episode on the subject of student debt and confusing repayment programs.

Minhaj begins his response with a light reference to Lil Uzi Vert: “Are you familiar with the rapper Lil Uzi Vert?”

He continues, “I think it’s a huge problem that the youth of America have to bombard their favorite rapper or pop musician and ask them to pay back their student loans,” he says. “They’re not even asking for selfies anymore.”

And then to further emphasize his point, he asks, “Are you a Swiftie? Cuz even her fans have gone up to her and said, ‘Will you please pay back my student loans?'”

But the burning does not stop there.

When Congressman Sean Duffy (R) tries to make a point about low-achieving students going to lesser ranked schools (and accruing more debt as a result? idk), Minhaj fires back with, “Or if your mom’s Aunt Becky, you can just pay your way into USC.”

Real-time footage of Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D) reacting to this drag.

Thank you, Hasan Minhaj, for explaining the sheer magnitude of this problem in the most relatable possible terms.

Hasan Minhaj for prez?
