The prize winner and a guest will stay in an elegant room at Linthwaite House, an Edwardian property with views over Lake Windermere that’s part of the Leeu Collection. Just-opened restaurant Henrock, created by chef Simon Rogan (known for his two-Michelin starred Lake District restaurant L’Enclume), has put the hotel on the foodie map. Dinner at Henrock, with paired wines, is included in the prize: try sophisticated dishes such as Herdwick lamb, pine-smoked quail or poached cod, which use the finest ingredients including some sourced from Simon’s farm, Our Farm.
Aside from supper, the prize winner and their guest can relax in the tranquil spaces of Linthwaite House. There’s an open log fire and panoramic views of the fells, and the hotel’s beautiful lobby bar in the conservatory serves hand-crafted cocktails. Set in 14.5 acres of meticulously landscaped gardens, the grounds have a private boating lake and are filled with artworks, as well as winding trails for a walk with mountain-backed views.
