«I suffered a lot with what happened.»
In case you didn’t know, Michael Bublé and his wife, Argentinian actor Luisana Lopilato, have been doing a regular series of Instagram Live videos — At Home With Michael and Luisana — from their home in Vancouver because, like the rest us, they are quarantining with their children.
But it was one of their home videos in early April that left people talking, after fans accused Michael of elbowing and aggressively handling Luisana:
After the clip went viral, Luisana — in a now-deleted Instagram post — came to Michael’s defense saying, «I have no doubts who my husband is.»
She then added:
We get together every day with my husband to stream live and bring a bit of joy, entertainment, and hope, and we have to deal with hearing and seeing what malicious people, who come out saying things about our family without knowing anything about us.
Well, a few days ago, Luisana did an interview with the Argentinian TV show Intrusos, where she spoke about the clip and how much it has distressed her and her family.
She started by explaining that people accusing Michael of being abusive have caused her a lot of pain, saying, «I suffered a lot with what happened.» Especially when a lot of it was coming from the media in Argentina, which she says were spreading rumors that they knew weren’t true.
She added that Michael does nothing more than go out of his way to make her happy:
Mike is a gentleman who is always concerned with trying to make me even more happy than I already am.
Luisana then went on to reveal that she was scared because Michael had been receiving death threats.
And she went into detail on some of the threats he was receiving:
There was a moment [of fear], and I still feel a bit of fear. You wouldn’t believe the amount of people who sent me photos with weapons, saying they were going to kill Mike when he reached Argentina, photos of knives from people laughing and saying they were going to cut off his fingers, leave a bomb for us, or when you get to Argentina we’re going to give him a beating at the airport.
While Luisana said she is suffering a lot because of it, she also said that it has affected Michael.
Particularly because he loves Argentina:
It caused Mike a lot of pain, too. He loves Argentina and he loves being with me in Argentina when I’m working… He loves the friends he has in Argentina. Can you imagine what it feels like to receive a photo from Argentina of a youngster holding a weapon and the warning: «Che, this is what you’re going to get when you come here.»
Luisana added that while she is trying not to give the accusations importance, the topic of domestic violence itself is an important one, and that she hoped people would focus as hard on that as much as they focused on her.
You can watch the interview with Luisana talking about how the clip has affected her and death threats Michael has received below (it is in Spanish):
