Dispatch from the Road
by Ben Schott
So this is what they meant by spacious skies and purple mountain majesties.
It was a simple, if ridiculously ambitious agenda: See as much of Southern Utah’s natural splendors as two people in a PT Cruiser could in three days. The course we plotted started in Zion, then went to Bryce Canyon, where we picked up Scenic Route 12, and followed it past Kodachrome Basin, Capitol Reef, Escalante, and Goblin Valley, finally winding our way out and down to Arches and Canyonlands. We saw about four percent of what we could have seen, and it was totally amazing.
