Glitz, Glamour, and Good Vibes in LA’s Westwood Village

Palihotel Westwood Village

Westwood Village, CA

Trendy, (From $185)

And the Oscar goes to…

The Palisociety hotel brand (run by Avi Brosh) is practically sweeping the awards for democratizing chic design in creative ways. Their latest outpost, a repurposed pied-à-terre that was once home to Westwood’s first-ever hotel in 1939, Palihotel Westwood Village embodies a mix of Parisian eclecticism with of-the-moment design elements, including vintage art and furniture. Nostalgic of Hollywood’s silver screen era, the hotel’s original signage, red and white striped awnings, and 55 guest rooms with low-slung furnishings draped in soft neutrals and curved bay windows, set the stage for a properly glam stay. California sunshine seems to beam throughout the entire space. The stylish lobby, French dining nook, and serene outdoor courtyard set the scene for an extended vacation at this home-away-from home.

What to Do Nearby

The hotel is ideally situated where Beverly Hills and Los Angeles zip codes rub shoulders: three miles to Rodeo Drive and Beverly Hills Triangle, two miles to Brentwood, and you can get to the surf beaches of Venice and Santa Monica with a quick seven-mile drive.

To live out your Once Upon a Time in Hollywood fantasies, swing by the nearby storied Fox Theater on Hollywood Boulevard, which regularly rolls out the red carpet for star-studded movie premieres. A Few blocks over at the Westwood Village Memorial Park, visit the graves of Hollywood icons such as Marilyn Monroe, Truman Capote, Rodney Dangerfield, and dozens of other stars. The Griffith Observatory — a landmark in both James Dean’s Rebel Without a Cause and recently the romantic meet-cute for Oscar-winning La La Land, offers free admission to the building and grounds six days a week (closed on Mondays) with sunset walking tours. From the silver screen to the white cube, a visit to the Hammer Museum is not to be missed, with edgy exhibitions and installations by socially charged artists, and Audrey, a bright, peppy space with comfortable booths and a crowd-pleasing bar.
