WWI wasn’t as cut and dry as WWII. (I’m assuming it’s WWI because the battle of Somme was WWI) The Germans entered that war because of a lot of pressure on multiple sides. If they didn’t strike first they most definitely would have lost and their land divvied up by their neighbors. They marched to end the war quickly but then Belgium was like «fuck that» and it only because a World War because of a mess of treaties dragging other countries into it.
