After months of lock down, the UK is finally allowed to leave the house and go travelling. How we travel however, has changed. Where do you have to wear a face mask in the UK?
From 24 July, face masks must be worn in enclosed spaces in England. These spaces include shops, supermarkets, banks, post offices, trains, train stations, buses, bus stations, airports and planes. Those who fail to wear a mask could be fined up to £6,400. In Scotland, face masks must be worn in shops, and anyone who does not wear one could be fined up to £60.
Do you have to wear a mask on a plane?
Yes, most airlines around the world, including British Airways, easyJet, Ryanair and Virgin Atlantic, now require both staff and passengers to wear masks while onboard and at the airport. Many airlines are also recommending passengers bring several masks with them. According to British Airways, one face mask lasts for four hours, so the airline recommends bringing a couple of masks to wear throughout the duration of your flight. Children who are not able to maintain wearing a face covering may be exempt, but please check with your airline before flying.
