Shea Moisture African black soap, an oil-absorbing, exfoliating, and moisturizing bar made with shea butter that I personally recommend if you’re looking for an amazing glow-up for only $6 (and who isn’t?).

@sheamoisture / Via instagram.com

Full disclosure, I thought I’d start off this post with the two products that have basically been the beginning and end of my skincare routine for the past year. First off, I absolutely swear by this soap. I’ve never had major acne struggles, but I do get zits just like everyone else and am prone to nasty rashes (or could be a weird form of acne? My derm wasn’t sure) on my forehead. I use this every morning in the shower, and while I’m not 100% free of pimples (as a person with bangs and who uses a roll-on essential oil stick for headaches, I can never really expect to be), I feel like this stuff makes my skin glow. I also don’t get my flare-ups of dermatitis on my forehead when I use it daily. I really think this stuff has done wonders for my skin.

Promising review: «This stuff is a GODSEND. I’ve had good skin for most of my life, with maybe an occasional pimple on my chin during that time of the month. However, over this last winter I had THE WORST breakout I’ve ever had. I had pimples all over my forehead, chin, and lips. Nothing was really working for me, so I bought this on a whim after seeing it all over Instagram. And Oh My God — when I tell you this stuff cleared my skin, I MEAN IT. If you have doubts about buying this, just go for it. It’s only four dollars, and if it doesn’t work for you, it still smells wonderful. Literally. If you have acne, you NEED this product.» —Edie

Get it from Target for $3.99.

Supergoop! SPF 30 City Sunscreen Serum, a sunscreen, moisturizer, and antioxidant-filled serum all rolled into one. It’s cruelty-free, paraben-free, odor-free, and seriously hassle-free, too. 🙌

This is the other important fixture in my morning mini-routine. I love that it’s not perfumey, and it’s really light and easy. I’m very low-key, but what matters most to me is that I get some SPF on my face, plus some moisture so my skin doesn’t feel all dry after blow-drying my hair in the morning. Slathering this on accomplishes both of those things and makes me feel like I have a fancy skin routine with just a couple pumps of a bottle.

Promising review: «I might be the most minimalist Sephora shopper ever. In the morning I like to wash my face, then use one product. I’m looking for as many benefits in one bottle as possible, and this product delivers a lot in one package. I used the same lotion for years, but now that I’m headed toward the big 4-0, my skin has changed a ton. I’ve always had combination skin, but the dryness has increased and the oil and blackheads have decreased. This lotion isn’t greasy. In about a month, I’ve seen an improvement in my overall skin tone and fine lines. I will buy again!» —skingvta

Promising review: «My skin is extremely finicky with products, so I have no other choice but to keep my skincare collection to a minimum. I have tried a dozen makeup removers in my life and they’ve all been really irritating to my skin/eyes. I’m so glad to have found an alternative that doesn’t irritate my skin AND that takes all my makeup off!!! It’s also super easy to wash, cost-effective, and not wasteful. I will definitely buy a couple for my friends/family in the future. It’s a GAME-CHANGER.» —hanakeserovic

I have very dry skin — on my cheeks at least. My skin is already feeling softer, and my pores are looking better. I’ve mixed it with apple cider vinegar and sometimes I add a little water! I recommend putting this on before you shower. Makes cleaning it off easier! It comes with a lot for the price and should last a good amount of time! I have been telling everyone about it; I love it so much! I’ll definitely be buying more once I’m out!» —nadia

The Skincare Set from cult-fave brand Glossier, which is basically a prepackaged, perfect skincare routine. Everyone who sees these products on your sink will be like, «damn, they really know what they’re doing.» In truth? All you had to do was hit «add to cart.»

The set includes the brand’s Milky Jelly Cleanser (a pH-balanced daily face wash), Priming Moisturizer (which hydrates, plumps, and just generally leaves you glowing), and Balm Dotcom (an antioxidant-rich skin and lip salve available in different flavors and tints).

Promising review: «I was the biggest skeptic of Glossier — I didn’t trust the hype. Whenever I do wear makeup, it’s a full face, and I don’t have a super consistent skincare routine, so I figured this wasn’t the company for me. However, I have friends that gave it rave reviews and the curiosity finally got the better of me. I decided to buy the skincare set to inspire me to get more consistent about my skincare routine. I’ve had this set for about five days now and I am completely shook by how good my skin looks. Acne scars that I thought were a permanent part of my face are fading and my skin feels baby soft! The milky jelly cleanser is one of the only cleansers I’ve ever used that doesn’t make my skin feel tight after. The priming moisturizer goes on smooth and actually decreases the redness in my face. I got the rose balm dot com and I almost cried when I first put it, on it smelled so good. It goes on thick and stays on your lips for a while, and it feels moisturizing without feeling heavy. I immediately ordered three more in different flavors. I now understand the hype.» —Sempervirine

Get all three from Glossier for $40 (available with eight balm varieties).

Promising review: «Such a time-saver! I was always really bad about regularly washing my face before bed because I’d always get water everywhere and it was just a headache. I love these because it’s all in one cloth. These leave my skin feeling clean and without soap residue left behind. They’re very easy and quick to use.» —Stac14

The easiest skincare routine? Just keeping this on your desk/bathroom counter/bedside table and spritzing some on whenever you need a boost.

Promising review: «I have been using this product religiously for about three years. I had really bad acne, and now it’s totally clear, and this was the only product I was using. Now it doesn’t work for the acne as well, but it gives my skin the most amazing finish. It also smells very good!! Love this product!!» —JacquelineWelsh

A vegan cleansing butter that’s not a regular makeup remover, it’s a *refreshing* makeup remover that won’t leave you skin feeling stripped and dry. It’s especially great for sensitive skin!

The Body Shop

It’s made by The Body Shop, a brand that’s outspoken about opposing animal testing! 👏

Promising review: «I’ve been using this product for just over three years now. For me, the biggest pro is it acts like a three-in-one. It’s a cleanser, a makeup remover, and a moisturizer. This product basically makes up my end-of-the-day routine. As a cleanser, it leaves your face feeling very clean and soft. It doesn’t leave any unwanted residue and I’ve had no issues with breakouts at all. As a makeup remover, honestly I would recommend this product for this one use alone. It works on everything; waterproof, long-lasting, fake eyelash glue, airbrush (I was in a wedding). It wont leave your eyes/lips dry and is easy to use. No cotton balls/Q-tips/pads required. Just lather it on and rinse and it takes everything off. As it is a butter, it also has moisturizing properties. I would recommend this for all skin types as it is a mild product.» —Carriedto

Get it from The Body Shop for $16.

The Glossier Zit Stick, a miraculous spot treatment that can help acne start to fade in as little as THREE HOURS. Plus, it’s invisible once you roll it on and the packaging is super cute, so you can easily keep it in your bag for whenever a skin-mergency strikes.

It’s cruelty-free and made with benzoyl peroxide, tea tree oil, and capryloyl salicylic acid (a form of salicylic acid that’s not quite as harsh).

Promising review: «This is a total game changer!! I’ve been using spot treatments for years and I’ve always found that they can prevent a pimple from getting worse, nothing more. The Zit Stick totally changed that. I had three zits the first time I used it, and by the end of the day they were all completely gone. It doesn’t smell chemical-y or burn my skin, but it still works miracles. Absolutely amazing!!» —Sara

A Bioré pore strips combo pack, because I don’t care how *meh* you feel about skincare — everyone loves peeling one of these babies off and seeing all of the blackheads and ick that had been festering in their pores. And this set comes with different-shaped strips to get that same satisfaction on all of your face, not just your nose.

Just apply one of these to damp skin, wait 10 minutes, then peel it off for the most satisfying sight ever — all the dirt and blackheads it’s extracted from your skin!

Promising review: «I used these a few times and they work as intended. They do a pretty good job, however I kind of wished the longer rectangular strips were bigger to cover more area. Otherwise, the nose one is perfect and using two of the rectangular ones to cover a larger area is okay too. I would recommend this product if you want to clear your pores and get the satisfaction of looking at the gunk left on the strip when you rip it off.» —Tona

Get a box of 24 (12 nose strips and 12 face strips) from Target for $14.59.

And some equally satisfying Winky Lux matcha blotting papers anyone with oily or combination skin will always want to have on hand for an instant oily-to-matte makeover.

My work wife and fellow BuzzFeed Shopping editor Yi Yang has these at her desk, and back when we were working in the office instead of from home I would mooch them off her on the reg. She’s someone with fairly oily skin and uses these for blotting pretty much every afternoon, while my skin has oily days and dry days. Still, sometimes I’ll use one of these and go «OMG» when I see how much oil it’s gotten off my face. So effective and so satisfying. Plus, they’re vegan, cruelty-free, and PRETTY!

It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ cream, a foundation whose name really says it all. It gives a super-natural look with full coverage and color correction, SPF 50+ (!!!), and a smoothing and hydrating effect. You (and your face) are gonna fall in love.

Wait, it has more amazing features? Hell yeah. It’s made with skin superstar ingredients like collagen, hyaluronic acid, vitamins, and antioxidants and is paraben- and cruelty-free.

Promising review: «This is an excellent foundation for low-maintenance people. It provides great coverage, sinks in to look like your own skin, and all with an SPF of 50+. I’m over 40 and it does not make me look older, which is a key selling point. You know how some days you don’t want to do the whole makeup routine but would like to have your skin evened out? And if you put on foundation (and maybe concealer) by itself, it looks funky? Like you didn’t finish your face? This product is the solution to that problem. I don’t like to wear makeup everyday. I can put this on as sunscreen with the added benefit of evening out my complexion without looking like I have makeup on. All I do is pat it all over my face before gently rubbing it in, the same as I would sunscreen. If I add a dab of concealer here and there before it sets, it all melds into the skin and looks like I didn’t do a thing. It definitely sets as more ‘dewy,’ so if you have oily skin this may not be the product for you. I have combination skin, oily/normal in the summer and normal/dry in the winter. I set it with a light dusting of powder and setting spray in the summer, but in the winter it’s just fine for me.» —PrettyApple

Get it from Sephora for $39.50 (available in 12 shades).

Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Night Cream, a non-greasy, wrinkle-fighting, super moisturizing lotion that’ll make skincare so easy, you could do it in your sleep — literally.

It’s paraben-free!

Promising review: «This is the first skincare product of which I used every last drop. I usually get frustrated from something not working as expected and give up to try something new. From day one, I saw the results I wanted and I have used it every day since. I have terribly dry skin in the winter. I used to use the thickest, most hydrating cream I could find at night and then still have to moisturize pretty heavily in the morning, and my skin would still get flaky before the end of the day under my makeup. But when I started using this cream every night before bed, I didn’t have to reapply in the morning and my skin didn’t flake at all. My makeup stays put and my skin looks healthy and nourished. Even in the summer, this product is still great, never greasy. This product changed my life, no joke.» —Rachel

Get it from Target for $11.69.

I don’t even wear highlighter anymore (that’s money saved!) because Futuredew gives me the perfectly supple, smooth glow that I’ve been trying to achieve with highlighter for years.» —Angela

A vitamin C sea salt scrub that is also formulated with aloe vera and argan and jojoba oils and will get rid of problem spots FAST. Because tbh, you’re very busy and don’t really have time to deal with dry, irritated skin.

It’s non-toxic, all-natural, paraben-free, and not tested on animals! Note that if you decide to use it while showering, reviewers say it can make the shower extra slippery — so be careful!

Promising review: «My first time using a scrub and I love it! I have been using lotion post-shower for decades, but this stuff is so moisturizing that I am able to just pat dry and go! Also, it’s recommended to not use after shaving (which makes sense), however I use it prior to shaving and after rinsing the salt I can just shave as normal using only the oils left on my skin from the scrub!! It’s not greasy at all, smells great, and my skin looked and felt smoother after just one use!» —Laury B.

Most other moisturizers I’ve tried have filled one or two but never all of those requirements for me. This sorbet makes my face feel so smooth, so moisturized and so clean.» —JODHAIRA

Beautifully scented Rosebud Salve sure to become your new best ~bud~ because it’s so all-purpose. Dry lips, hands, cuticles, elbows, and pretty much any other area of your body? It’s got them (literally) covered.

Promising review: «This salve is amazing! It doesn’t give your lips a sticky or tacky feeling. Long-lasting moisture with a very delicate scent. Highly recommend. I am a medical aesthetician and have tried many. This is amazing. It’s a must-buy.» —MadeleineGF

Get it from Anthropologie for $6 (available in two scents) or Sephora for $7.

My mom has this on her vanity and I always use some when I’m home and have «forgotten» my toiletry kit (or rather, intentionally left it behind so I could raid my parents’ cabinet). It’s soooo nice. It’s definitely rich, so I don’t think it would be a good everyday choice if you’re prone to breakouts, but dang, is it a nice treat. You know when your skin is so dry that you fantasize about jumping into a bathtub full of lotion? Is that just me? Well anyway, this is what I’d want that bathtub to be filled with.

Promising review: «BEST EVER! I have extremely sensitive skin, to the point that I can only use one other moisturizer and limited sun creams otherwise my whole face starts stinging and feels like it’s burning. However, this cream does none of this. I can apply as normal and I wouldn’t even know I’ve put it on (other than my face feeling extremely moisturized). So if you have sensitive skin or are just in need of a good cream, I would 100% recommend this one to you.» —Amy

Get it from Benefit for $42.
